Top Tips for Spring Cleaning

Spring is officially in season and we could not be more excited about all that is to come! With new beginnings, blooming flowers, and of course, amazing weather, we feel this is the perfect season to get inspired to get everything in order and to get ready to spring clean. Keep reading to get some tips on how you can effectively get your home organized and ready to go for the new season ahead!

Make a Schedule

The best way to stay organized is to keep a schedule of everything you are hoping to get done and to make notes of when you need it done by. I am sure there is a long list in the back of your head of things you would like to get done and check off so the best way to ensure that everything can be achieved is by creating a viable schedule that can help accomplish greatness! Whether that is in a notebook you depend on or in an excel sheet/online document, you can map out what task needs to get done, how long it will take you, and when it needs to get done!

Declutter

With clutter comes stress and what better time to get your things sorted out than at the beginning of a new, fresh season? The task of decluttering can seem intimidating in itself so we encourage people to pick a room that they want to tackle first and start there. There is no need to feel as though your whole home needs to be organized in one day. When sorting through items, a great rule of thumb is if you did not wear or use it in the last year, it may be worth donating. Getting rid of things is hard but the more space you clear up, the better you are bound to feel!

Change your HVAC Filters

This may seem simple, but changing out your HVAC filters can easily be something people forget to keep up on! This task alone can help ensure a healthier start to your spring season and is so easy to accomplish! These filters help catch small and sometimes irritating particles that roam throughout your home and air. In the winter, dust can build up, and changing out the filter can help catch these particles that should not be in your home. Start the season off right by helping yourself and those that live in your home by ensuring that they are breathing in clean and healthy air!

Check Your Walls and Windows

Walls and windows are easily overlooked but now that the weather is clearing up, there is no better time to wipe those walls and windows clean! Whether you want to hire a professional window cleaner or do it yourself, this is definitely a task that won’t go unnoticed. Check the baseboards of your home and your walls to ensure dust is not accumulating there as well!

Clean Your Aesthetic

Winter decor is full of heavy, cozy blankets, dark colors, and woodsy candles. But, now that spring is here, this can be the perfect time to freshen up your space! Consider adding some new, lighter, and more colorful pillows and blankets or even get a new candle that can make you feel that you are smelling something fresh! This can be the perfect time to change your bedding, table settings and so much more! You will even find that most of your local stores supplying home merchandise have items to buy for your home that fit the spring season!

Fix Up Landscaping and Power Wash

There is nothing more fitting for ringing in the spring than planting some new flowers! This is the perfect time to go out and pick out the plants and flowers that make you feel truly happy whether that is fresh greenery or the most colorful bunch of flowers you can find! Plan out your yard by creating combinations of flowers that you feel go well together and spend a day in the fresh sun planting and enjoying the outside. This is also a perfect time to not only clean the inside of your home but the outside as well! Consider power washing the exterior of your house to bring back the look of fresh paint and to allow your home to get a good clean overall!

Spring is a fresh start and there is no better way to create a truly fresh start for yourself and your home than by cleaning and sorting through that to-do list! Happy Spring from The Erin Krueger Team!
