Tennessee Towns: Best Places to Live

Hundreds of people are relocating to all parts of Tennessee daily. With Nashville at the center of it all, there are many suburbs surrounding the city that feature their own perks. A few of our favorite cities were recently recognized as ‘Best Places To Live in America’ by Money. Mount Juliet came in at No. 22 on the list, with Franklin ranking in the Top 10 for the second time at No. 8. This is no secret to us – we have clients buying in these areas every month!

Franklin is located just 20 minutes from downtown Nashville. According to Money, Franklin has seen a 44% job growth in the last 10 years, matched by a 33% increase in population. Franklin offers the best of all worlds. It’s close proximity to the city is great for those who commute, but it is also a one-stop-shop for those who want to stay within the suburbs.

The perfect blend of history and new, there is no shortage of activity. Franklin is home to beautiful parks such as Bicentennial, Fort Granger and Jim Warren Park. Downtown Franklin is growing in popularity even amongst tourists. Its brick streets feature boutiques, restaurants and art galleries. Some of our local favorites in Franklin are: Puckett’s Grocery & Restaurant, 55 South, Cork & Cow, JJ’s Wine Bar and Gray’s on Main. The Franklin Theater, which was established in 1937, still welcomes guests and various artists to its stage throughout the year.

The average median household income for Franklin residents is $110,000 according to Money, and the median price for a home is $495,000. The style of homes in Franklin vary from historical homes that have been standing since the Civil War to luxury modern homes. If you are looking for lots of land, as we have seen with many clients as of recently, Franklin is just a short distance to areas offering that such as Arrington, Leipers Fork, Nolensville and College Grove.

Just 17 miles East of downtown Nashville is the city of Mount Juliet, which has experienced tons of growth and change in the past few years. Employment in the city has risen 12% since 2015 according to Money. A big part of its upcoming growth will come from Amazon announcing its new distribution center in the city, which is projected to bring in at least 1,000 jobs in 2021.

Known as the ‘City Between The Lakes’, Mount Juliet is home to plenty of outdoor activities. Whether you are looking to fish, swim, boat, kayak or camp, Percy Priest and Old Hickory Lake are nearby for all of your outdoor needs. Mt. Juliet is also home to the beautiful Pine Creek Golf Course and Charlie Daniels Park which offer great outdoor entertainment as well.

Providence Marketplace is the hub of shopping in the city. Home to staple stores such as Target, Home Goods and PetSmart. Dining options include popular chain restaurants such as Chic-Fil-A, Panera Bread and O’Charleys. Another fun spot just outside of the city for the whole family to enjoy is Breeden’s Orchard. Here guests can participate in apple and peach picking or visit their weekly farmer’s market.

The average home price in Mount Juliet is around $345,800 according to Zillow. Here you will find quaint neighborhoods with brick homes as well as great new construction options. By the lakes, you can expect to see charming ranch style homes with larger homes being built. Both Franklin and Mount Juliet offer great communities for anyone – whether a family, someone relocating, retiring or whatever your situation may be. Here you will be at home!
