Helpful Guide to Celebrating Mother’s Day

This year’s Mother’s Day looks a little different than years before. Favorite brunch spots are closed for dine-in, most retail stores are closed for gift shopping and some families may not have the opportunity to celebrate together for safety purposes or travel restrictions. But we are here to remind you- celebrating is essential! We are sharing various ideas for ways to make this unique Mother’s Day a memorable one, just the way moms deserve! Whether your mom is a foodie, outdoorsy, a fashionista, artsy or whatever her style, we have come up with options to suit all mothers this holiday.

THE FOODIE MOM

Bring brunch home! Although many restaurants are still closed for dining, grocery stores have remained open. Think of your mom or wife’s- if you have younger children, go-to menu item from her favorite brunch spot and recreate it at home on Sunday morning! Let your kids help prepare and even serve their mom for a fun activity. If you need quick and easy last minute recipes, sites such as Food Network, Delish, Brit + Co and Country Living have endless options for breakfast and brunch recipes curated for Mother’s Day. Of course, there is always the to-go option! There are endless options of brunch restaurants offering takeout and delivery such as Pancake Pantry, Pinewood Social, Frothy Monkey and more options you can find on Eater. If your mom is the wine lover of the family, host an at-home or virtual wine tasting. If you are together, consider using wines you have around the house or grabbing a few of her favorites on your next run to the grocery store along with her favorite cheeses and chocolates. If you are practicing social distancing, consider gifting a wine subscription box such as Winc or Cellars then pick a time to jump on Facetime, Zoom or Google Hangout and cheers virtually.

THE OUTDOORSY MOM

Great weather on the forecast makes the perfect opportunity to get outside! Take her for a walk or run on her favorite trail or through her favorite park. Treat her to a new athletic wear outfit that she can wear during the outing. Target has a great selection of athleisure to choose from- you can even order on the app and they will bring your order out to your car! If the mom in your life prefers something a little more relaxing, consider packing a picnic or driving to a lookout spot for the sunrise or sunset.

THE ARTSY MOM

Homemade crafts are the perfect solution for gifts, as well as an entertaining activity that moms can do with their kids or the night before as a surprise! Craft options can be as simple, inexpensive or elaborate as you wish. Most supplies you probably already have around the house or can find at your local grocery store. Craft ideas such as homemade cards, pom pom flower bouquets, painted tea towels and many others can be found on Pinterest, Personal Creations and Good Housekeeping.

THE FASHIONISTA

For the moms who can’t wait for a getaway to the mall, consider getting her a giftcard to her favorite stores once they reopen or a coupon for one trip together to the mall, lunch and a new outfit on you when things are back to normal. If you want to get your kids involved- host a living room fashion show. Have your kids pretend to walk as the models, pick out their own outfits and strut through the house- should be a good laugh for everyone.

No matter how you choose to spend this Mother’s Day remember that it’s not about the gifts or where you eat, it’s about letting the mother in your life know how thankful you are for her and just how special she is. Mothers are lovers, caretakers, secret keepers, best friends, listeners, uplifters, brave, accepting, devoted, inspirational and so much more. From our team to you, Happy Mother’s Day!
